How We Render Our Beef Tallow
The quality of tallow begins long before it becomes skincare. Firstly, a cattle ranch raises grass-fed cattle from their 100% sustainable cattle ranch in Nova Scotia, Canada. . We purchase beef suet from their ranch and use a traditional rendering method, followed by a three-stage purification process, to create tallow that is exceptionally clean, gentle, and skin-loving.
Step 1: Rendering (Low & Slow) We begin with high-quality beef suet/fat and use a rendering process, which involves gently heating the fat at low temperatures.
This method prevents scorching or overheating, helps separate impurities naturally, and preserves the fatty acid profile that closely mimics human skin. As the fat slowly melts, pure tallow rises to the top while impurities and solids settle below.
Step 2: Once rendering is complete, the mixture is cooled. During this stage the tallow solidifies on top and water and impurities remain beneath. The solid tallow is then carefully removed, leaving behind anything unwanted.
Step 3: Triple Purification (3×) To ensure the cleanest, most refined tallow possible, each batch undergoes three separate purification cycles. During each cycle the tallow is gently reheated. Any remaining impurities are drawn out and removed. Only the cleanest portion is retained for the next stage. This repeated purification results in tallow that is more odor-neutral, smooth and creamy in texture, and exceptionally gentle for skin use.
Why Our Process Matters
Many tallow products are rendered once or at high temperatures to save time. We choose a slower, more intentional approach because it produces a noticeably superior result. Our triple-purified, rendered tallow absorbs easily without feeling greasy, supports the skin’s natural barrier, and is suitable for sensitive and delicate skin. Our Standard we believe skincare should be as pure as it is effective. That’s why we render and purify every batch ourselves — with patience, care, and respect for the process. A time-consuming process but very worth the end result. We do not outsource as we feel it is most important to know the source of the beef suet/fat we render, which is (locally sourced) from a cattle ranch here in Nova Scotia, Canada.
